Why We Built This Site
Virginia does not place every criminal record in one public database. The Charlotte County Sheriff's Office holds the records it creates for incidents, arrests, service, and local custody. General District Court keeps misdemeanor, traffic, and early felony proceedings, while Circuit Court keeps felony trials and district-court appeals. Statewide history belongs to the Virginia Department of State Police Criminal Justice Information Services Division and its Central Criminal Records Exchange. State custody records belong to the Virginia Department of Corrections, and registry data belongs to the Virginia Sex Offender and Crimes Against Minors Registry. We bring the official contacts, access methods, and limits for those distinct systems into one reference.

What We Cannot Do
This is a privately operated reference site, not part of Charlotte County or the Commonwealth of Virginia. We have no affiliation with a court, sheriff, police department, or state agency. Those boundaries mean we cannot do the following:
- Provide certified court documents, rap sheets, or other official copies
- Run a government background check or retrieve a person's criminal record
- Submit an expungement petition, public-records request, or other filing for a reader
- Give legal advice about a charge, warrant, conviction, or case
- Promise that an office's address, hours, fee, or procedure has not changed
Only the office that maintains a record, such as the sheriff, the responsible court clerk, or Virginia State Police CCRE, can issue or certify it. Our role is limited to identifying that source.
